  I am a new shopper and have resisted in the past due to higher prices. Recently I have changed my attitude about food and no longer want to consume my veggies and fruit covered in chemicals. I also have cut out dairy, gluten and sugar and I’m more perticular about the quality of food I’m buying. I started going to Planet Organic because you don’t have to guess what is organic or not, it just is. The healthier choices available for all the packaged/canned goods is a nice change and allows me to stick to my strict diet and still be creative and make delicious meals. Also the biggest thing to impress me is the staff. The customer service I consistently receive makes me feel good about spending my money here. Today for example, I was greeted with a smile from every employee, offered free samples including a coffee and a scone from the baker (AJ to be exact-he spoiled me with a fresh baked cheese and butter scone ***New item-you seriously need to eat one, or six). The cashiers remember you and every employee is very helpful. I don’t care that I pay a little more. The quality of food and service we get weekly is worth every extra penny in my opinion. So far so impressed!

  Unfortunately, Planet Organic falls short of being the great store they could be. They used to at least be better than they have become in the past two years. The prices are on the high side. The produce tends to be mediocre and the meats are not always fresh. For several months last year, the shelves were quite bare. I get the sense that there is a problem with the store management, both here and at their head office in the States. Many staff over the years have been wonderful, but there seems to be a high turnover rate, and too often, I encounter staff who seem to hate being there, which leads to their being less helpful and somewhat grumpy. The store has great potential to become much better.
